My Daughter Recognized A Man She Shouldn’t Have Known

While looking at old photos with my daughter, we found one of me and my ex, Nico. To my surprise, she recognized him, saying he was the man who had given her a bracelet at a fair months earlier. I hadn’t seen Nico in seven years, and the coincidence felt too strange to ignore.

After talking to my sister, I began to suspect it wasn’t just chance. The bracelet reminded me of ones Nico used to make. I searched for him and eventually drove back to Charleston, where I found his mom’s bakery and learned he was working on an art project nearby.

When we saw each other, it felt like no time had passed. Nico admitted he had met my daughter and given her a bracelet he had kept for years. We slowly reconnected, spending simple, meaningful time together and rebuilding our bond.

One night, when my daughter got sick, Nico came immediately, and I realized my feelings hadn’t disappeared. Over time, we grew close again and even started a small bracelet business together.
