No one noticed this giant blooper in Little House on the Prairie

Don’t believe that Little House on the Prairie was flawless! While the show is loved for its charm and family values, attentive viewers have spotted plenty of amusing mistakes over the years. From timeline inconsistencies—like Laura’s unusually long pregnancy—to historical inaccuracies, these small slip-ups reveal that even the most wholesome classics weren’t perfect behind the scenes.

Some of the funniest errors involve details that don’t match the 1800s setting. For example, Alison Arngrim’s iconic Nellie hairstyle actually came from a wig, and modern elements like bras and styled curls occasionally appeared on screen—even though they didn’t exist at the time. One of the biggest blunders was the appearance of Colonel Sanders, despite the fact that KFC didn’t exist until decades later!

Behind the scenes, the cast dynamics were just as interesting. While Melissa Gilbert (Laura) and Alison Arngrim (Nellie) were rivals on screen, they were close friends in real life. Meanwhile, Melissa Sue Anderson was sometimes described as distant by co-stars. Pranks were also common on set, especially from Michael Landon, who kept the atmosphere playful—even putting frogs in his mouth to surprise others.

There were also dramatic and emotional moments that didn’t always land perfectly, like the handling of grief in certain episodes or unclear storylines—such as Albert’s fate, played by Matthew Labyorteaux. Add in visible stunt dummies, reused props like the “traveling quilt,” and characters who barely aged over decades, and it becomes clear the show had its quirks. Still, these imperfections only add to the charm of a series that remains beloved generations later. READ MORE BELOW
