What began as a typical winter evening in the Washington, D.C. area turned tragic when an American Airlines flight preparing to land at Reagan National Airport became involved in one of the deadliest aviation accidents in the U.S. in over a decade. The plane, arriving from Wichita, Kansas, collided with a U.S. military helicopter over the Potomac River moments before touchdown.<\/p>\n

Among those aboard was Danasia Elder, a devoted flight attendant from Charlotte, North Carolina, remembered by family, friends, and colleagues as a beacon of warmth and kindness. Her life revolved around her faith, her husband, and her two children, Kayden and Dallas, and she brought the same care and dedication to passengers as she did to her family.<\/p>\n

Her brother-in-law, Brandon Payne, described her as \u201cfull of life,\u201d someone who cherished her career, loved traveling, and approached each day with gratitude and joy.<\/p>\n

A Dedicated Crew<\/h3>\n

Elder was one of two flight attendants on the flight, alongside Ian Epstein, 52, also from the Charlotte area. Both were seasoned professionals, praised for their seamless teamwork and dedication to passengers.<\/p>\n
