When you find a tick on your body, stay calm. I know\u2014it\u2019s easier said than done. But panic only slows you down.<\/p>\n

Instead, grab\u00a0fine-tipped tweezers<\/strong>. Grasp the tick as close to your skin as possible. Pull gently and steadily\u2014don\u2019t twist or yank it. Jerking can leave parts behind, which could cause infection.<\/p>\n

After removal, clean the bite area with\u00a0rubbing alcohol or soap and water<\/strong>. Whatever you do,\u00a0don\u2019t crush the tick<\/strong>. That could expose you to disease.<\/p>\n

Watch for Symptoms<\/h2>\n

Most people toss the tick immediately. Don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
